How to do Gardening Maintenance
A question regarding Gardening Maintenance, many of our customers ask after the installation of their new artificial lawn is, ‘Will it maintain its newly laid look?’ The answer to this question is a resounding ‘yes’ – all that is required is a little aftercare and maintenance.

While your artificial grass will not require anything like the level of upkeep that natural grass requires, regular use and its exposure to the elements mean that it will certainly benefit from occasional light maintenance. Below are our top tips for ensuring your new surface remains in optimal condition…
A gentle brush with a medium-to-soft sweeping brush once every week or two will do two things: it will keep your artificial grass free of debris, and it will ensure that it maintains its fresh, flawless appearance – just be sure to brush in the opposite direction of the artificial fibres to ensure the pile remains upright and bouncy. A leaf blower is another great tool for clearing your lawn of unwanted debris.
Although light, occasional brushing will usually be all that is required to keep your artificial lawn in pristine condition, there will be times when it requires a little more care and attention. Animal mess and other potential stain-leaving substances should be removed as soon as possible, and a little hot, soapy water will generally be enough to ensure there are no marks left behind. This can be applied with your sweeping brush, or a clean sponge or cloth – just remember to rinse the area afterwards.
If you didn’t quite get to the offending area in time and the spillage or other mess has begun to solidify, consider using a plastic spatula or similar utensil – or even that spare toothbrush you had been saving for an emergency – to gently remove the mess.
For those times when your spare toothbrush and an ample amount of hot, soapy water aren’t quite enough to shift that troublesome stain, we recommend investing in a custom-made artificial grass cleaning product – the use of heavy-duty detergents or other chemicals may mean you run the risk of discolouring your artificial grass.
All of Verdant Landscapes’ artificial grass is UV stabilised, ensuring your new surface maintains its natural green shades in the desert heat. However, this won’t protect it from the threat burning when in direct contact with, for example, ignited barbecues or cigarettes. It is, therefore, important to keep such items off its surface; ideally, barbecues should be kept at a safe distance and on a hard surface such as a concrete patio.
While the above aftercare tips will go a long way to ensuring that your new artificial grass continues to look as neat and fresh as it did on the day it was laid, if you have any further questions on this subject then please don’t hesitate to get in touch – one of our team of experts will be happy to help with any further queries you might have.
